A Guide to the Grand Sextile

The Grand Sextile, is a Star of David/Shadkona Yantra/Hexagram shaped configuration in the sky surrounded by a hexagon. It is a portal of Manifestation, a Divine Seal of Facilitation. This configuration is ‘completed’ through the motion of the Moon in the sign of Taurus.

For those of you who prefer learning through an oral rather than verbal component (or who simply want to re-inforce what is written here) you can also look at my video explaining the Grand Sextile and the challenges and gifts it brings us.

Here are the components of the Grand Sextile, a planet/body in all Earth/Water elements:

Moon in Taurus – emotional security, subconscious relationship with the flow of abundance (be it wealth or inner resources like self-worth)

Chiron Retrograde in Pisces – the sense of wounding or vulnerability with respect to one’s Path and/or connection with Spirit – healing and wounding tends to take place at a very deeper internal level and involve past life wounds and karmic ties rising to the surface for resolution

Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn – transformative crises (mostly internally generated) to find a new articulation of our relationship with power, status, career, prestige, the legacy we leave behind

Saturn conjunct Vesta in Scorpio – Saturn deals with karmic, the virtues of limitation and structuring of energy – Vesta deals with a path of Spiritual Facilitation, healing, the histories and memories of those who tended the sacred flame, be it within the self, or in ancient temples – in Scorpio , these energies unearth powerful memories of tasks or lessons from the past and ask us engage with our shadow beliefs and attitudes towards these aspects of life. They challenge you to find the gift in the Shadow, essentially.

Sun in Virgo – the focus of one’s essence/vital energies is on the Path of Service, ways to maintain, preserve, and nurture the integrity of the Self and Others in Balanced Harmony. The role of Priest/ess in Spiritual Facilitation and Honoring the Earth-Mother is also highlighted.

Juno in Cancer – The energy of the Divine Feminine moves through us as it seeks to elevate and transform our engagement with Spirit. She pushes us to the boundaries of our understanding of Home/Family/Motherhood/Goddess Love and helps us chart new waters in our engagement with her. Not to be underestimated.

So these are the main players in this alignment – their energies and lessons and challenges come together as one for 19.5 hours – the duration the sextile remains open. Astrologers will note that the Grand Sextile is formed if an 11 degree orb isuse for the Sun-Pluto Trine. Venus trines the Sun weakly, and She’s also 11 degrees away from the Sun as well. Still within the range of influence.

Three other factors intensity the experience of this Grand Sextile:

(1) The Final Grand Cross of 2014 – involving Juno, Pallas Athena (now conjunct Mercury), Pluto Retrograde and Uranus Retrograde. For more information seehttp://wp.me/p4OUNS-5q – this Cross challenges the Rising of the Feminine as She takes her Place on the World’s Stage and the Path of the Priestess, Witch, Goddessian is legitimated once more.

(2) A Triple Yod Configuration – 3 Fingers of Fate interconnect creating Karmic Decision Points which can radically alter the rate, progress and path that you take in your spiritual evolution

– Yod 1: Moon-Mercury/Pallas-Chiron Retrograde
– Yod 2: Chiron Retrograde-Jupiter-Pluto Retrograde
– Yod 3: Jupiter – Chiron Retrograde – Mercury/Pallas

Mercury/Pallas bring an intense analytical/mental/intellectual focus to any issue in your environment which is out energetic balance, particularly focused on your partnerships (due to its placement in Libra) – it even be the partnership within yourself with Spirit. For more information, see http://wp.me/p4OUNS-75

Jupiter in Leo deals with your guidance, sense of adventure, willingness to explore through experience, and a general sense of amplification/blessings on your path. Leo relates to romance, children, creativity, self-expression, the Inner Child Construct and the challenge of remaining authentic through vulnerability.

With the Yods as interconnected as they are … expect powerful shifts through all of the energies / planets / asteroids mentioned here. They can and will surprise you in powerful ways.

(3) Mars shifts into Sagittarius and remains at 29 degree Scorpio throughout the duration of the Grand Sextile’s portal

The 29th degree is the Anaretic Degree. It’s the time and place where the lump sum, or intensity of the energy from a particular sign concentrates, just before it is transcended.

So look back to all of the lessons of Mars in Scorpio. The balanced use of assertive force or power, the desire to know/own/control kept in check, the penetrative emphasis on self-knowing, often through another.

So with that intense focus of assertive energy, penetrating to the depths of your subconscious, shedding light on your Shadow (sometimes seen in others) …

You’re going to feel the -shake-up-wake-up- at this time. Intensity of focus, powerfully deep emotions rising to the surface.

All in preparation for Mars’ entry into Sagittarius which will take place at 5:40 am, September 14th, 2014. Basically 5 hours after the Grand Sextile portal closes.

To Summarize – the Energy of this Portal of Manifestation Births a New Reality. It Anchors the Energies of the Rising Feminine and the Masculine which must now acknowledge and confront the deep emotions buried in its Shadow. the Masculine (energy of assertion, not limited to gender) will then teach the lessons of its emotive sensitivity as it moves through Sagittarius. Plenty of new information coming in the next phase of Mars’ Journey. The Feminine, on the other hand (again, not limited to gender) learns the lessons of the game of power, presence and challenging the patriarchy.

Pallas Athena and her androgynous energies will help us find ways to balance those energies and interpret them in powerfully new ways.

There is a dance of Balance that these, and other Energies in the Universe will play together at this time And eventually, we will find that Unity.

So as you anchor your intentions for Manifestation, focus upon your Truest Understanding of Divinity Open your Heart and Work with its energies.

VENUS/LILITH IN LEO SQUARES MARS/SATURN IN SCORPIO: An analysis

Tavurvur Bai

Venus conjunct Lilith in Leo: Venus brings to this conjunction an intensification of desire. A pronounced focus, longing, evaluative/judgmental approach to all things related with children, creativity, positions of leadership, romance and the Inner Child Construct. With Lilith in the mix, we’re also likely to strongly attach/detach (depending on your mental conditioning) with circumstances that prevent you from manifesting Leo energy in your life (whether it’s a painting, conceiving a child, getting a position of leadership, falling in love, etc.).

Venus and Lilith strongly evoke aspects of the self we typically identify as ‘feminine’ – Venus teaches us how to manifest and relate to the material world. She teaches how to judge, evaluate, discern – and as you filter your experiences through the lens of perception – to allow yourself to revel in them. Lilith on the other hand, is the visibly Suppressed form of Feminine Energy that now seeks to rise to the Surface and re-claim her place in the world. She is all that is feared of the Wild Woman, The Dark Goddess, the Woman on Fire (sadly literally, as seen in history). You find her in the witch, in the priestess willing to stand tall, in the woman who simply refuses to submit.

In the sign of Leo, the power, vulnerability and authenticity of a feminine psyche coming to terms with itself, realizing and acknowledging who She is in the world – is placed in public view – for Leo is the Prancing Performer, capturing Center Stage. In its less evolved manifestation, this energy can be channeled in ways which project a sense of wounding, vulnerability or even invincibility/bravado that does not accurately reflect the Self, in order to receive attention.

Remember that Leo is the Royal Lion, there is a gregarious energy that is benevolent, that encompasses all with its warmth and joie de vivre. It is the happy King or Queen, comfortable in its own authority and happy to act as a benevolent protector for the good of all. The problem arises when that inner ‘king’ or ‘queen’ is not recognized, validated, or shown to be somehow popular. In this case, the energy of Leo can turn to pretense, ‘playing to the crowds’, domineering behavior – or even – (and here I quote Gargatholil) – settling for someone ‘below your level’ just so you can constantly be held up on a pedestal as ‘a superior’. Which brings me for the power dynamics in the Deep Waters of Scorpio….

Mars conjunct Saturn in Scorpio – Where Venus typically represents a core component of femininity, Mars represents the Masculine. If Venus yearns, Mars goes forth to make it happen. (Note: I’m using a language steeped in gender binaries here for explanatory purposes – there is Venus/Mars/Lilith/Saturn energy in all beings – not limited to specific genders). In Scorpio, Mars seeks power and control, often through dominion. Like Machiavelli, the mechanics of control are often hidden, and plays for power removed from public view. You can easily see how such a bid for power can be so easily abused. However, Scorpio energy is also one of the most powerful portals to the Shadow Self, to all of you which you have not acknowledged (good, bad, ugly, or beautiful).

When channeled with the purpose of Self-Mastery, and Self-Knowing, the energy of Mars in Scorpio is turned inwards. The only control you seek to find is Over self, and you continually strive to get Deeper, get Truer. Become More Real. On the other hand, Saturn in Scorpio presents the energy of karmic test, restriction, limitation and the need for discipline. It funnels and channels the powerful energies of the sky, showing us the need for focus and structure – and how that leads to a more efficient way of channeling power – in the same way that a magnifying glass can channel the sun’s rays to burn leaves. How you use that power, on the other hand, determines the web of karmic dynamics that all of us seek to ultimately dissolve as our Soul seeks Moksha (Transcendence).

In Scorpio, both Mars and Saturn bring back the Man From the Past. It can be a father, brother, even a very masculine mother, or a lover – or some form of energy that asks you to look at your relationship with Yang Energy. Karmic situations are likely to be revisited, as you are called to heal your relationship with what once was, for the sake of what can be. You may find this question present in your most intimate partnerships (sexual, financial, magickal) and find a strong pull towards all that calls you to take a deeper look Within. Those who choose not to, may find themselves entrenched in a deepening web of karmic ties, fortified through the mechanisms of projection. But it’s not all gloom and doom, remember that Scorpio is also the house of Regeneration and Rebirth – just as it is of Death and Transformation. It is the Crucible in which the Phoenix does just so it can be Reborn again.

When all of the energies are in the square aspect, what you get is a quintessential clash of Ying/Yang energy. Venus and Mars are vying for dominance, not realizing that what they require is balance. Lilith looks to the harsh laws and authorities of the past that have caged, slain or demonized her without just cause. Saturn looks to the destabilizing influence (from the perspective of the status quo) that the Rising Feminine can bring, and to traditional perceptions of Masculine and Feminine Roles.

So I’d say this packs quite a punch – It makes me think of a volcanic eruption (see attached image) – Fire through Earth, then Water – Transformed into Steam. That kind of force and intensity that these energies represent.¬†¬†

The best thing you can do is to choose to be Authentic about who you are, what you want – irrespective of whether people like you for it or not. And if you feel as though you’re not in control, then go to the place within to find your sovereignty and autonomy once more. Try not to find that in the submission or compliance of others. It honestly does not matter if people are trying to do anything it takes to ‘win’, just stay the course and follow your own moral compass. Try not to worry too much about outcomes and you bravely navigate the waters of Authenticity, Embodiment and Self-Knowing.

GRAND WATER TRINE – URANUS PLUTO T SQUARE – PART 1: MERCURY (21-29 JULY 2014)

Grand Water Trine 1

Blessings everyone,

There’s been so much going on in the Universe, hasn’t there? Rest assured, we exit this chaotic phase of intense shifting in the first week of August. New challenges and intensities lie ahead – but first we have to shift. Shift jobs, perspectives, homes, life paths, attitudes, shift whatever no longer empowers you and keeps you mired in the past. We have ample tools to facilitate that shifting in the sky right now, some of which I will discuss here.

Over the past few days, a Grand Water Trine involving Saturn, Chiron Retrograde, and (currently) Mercury has been building. A second phase of this energy will emerge as Mercury moves into Leo and Venus comes into position, making a new Grand Trine. I’ll talk about that later in Part 2.

This first Grand Water Trine is present in the sky between 21-29 July 2014 (GMT + 8), and peaks between 24-26 July. It will continue to exert influence for 3 days thereafter, inclusive of the New Moon.

Owing to the position of the planets now, Mercury also makes a powerful T-Square with Uranus and Pluto as it transits through Cancer. Venus will do the same in a few days. I’ll discuss this aspect very briefly at the end of this article, but first, the GWT itself.

Grand Water Trines are aspects which involve three or more bodies linked by trine aspects to one another, all in the same element. This is a Grand _Water_ Trine as it involves Water signs, namely – Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Water energies, broadly speaking, are associated with emotions, the intuition, the depths of the psyche and the heights of transcendental spiritual experience. They exist through matter and beyond it.

This Grand Water Trine (the first part) involves Saturn, Chiron Retrograde and Mercury. Let’s have a brief look at what part each body plays:

Saturn in Scorpio – Recently stationed direct, teaches us about the boundaries/limitations/discipline we need to maintain in areas of our lives pertaining to intimacy, sexuality, esoteric understanding, depth psychology, attitudes towards power and control in sign associated with Transformation-induced-by-Crisis.

Chiron Retrograde in Pisces – Chiron retrograde teaches us how to learn from ourselves and heal our pain. The Teacher looks inward to understand the origin and nature of the Wound which we feel so powerfully. In Pisces, this wounding can be through inappropriate boundaries set in relationships, spiritual guru-student hiearchies, or any other context in which you try to merge and ‘lose yourself’ in something or someone. Pisces (and Neptune) are also associated with forms of addiction-facilitated escapism.

Mercury in Cancer – Returning to Cancer after what seemed like an unusually long retrograde period (it just felt that way), Mercury is asking and encouraging us to apply our mental, analytical, interpretive and communicative faculties to understanding the ‘foundations of our psyche’. Perhaps greater insight is needed as to our sub-conscious conditioning, our familial constructs, our collective identities through which we define ourselves. We may also look to tradition and other cultural constructs to find a sense of rootedness or belonging at this time.

So all these energies harmonize with one another, and amplify each other, creating a powerful current of energy we call a Grand Trine. Trines are neither ‘good’ or ‘bad’, they simply mean that energies enhance one another. The way you experience this Trine is hugely dependent upon the way you choose to engage with the energies of each astral body involved.

This intense energetic pathway is raised a notch as Mercury opposes Pluto, turning the Grand Trine into a Kite. What this means is that the energy of the Trine is likely to be focused through the Mercury-Pluto opposition. I have written about that here, for those interested:http://bairaveebalasubramaniam.com/2014/07/24/mercury-pluto-retrograde-opposition/

This opposition also creates a T-Square between Uranus (recently turned) Retrograde, Pluto Retrograde and Mercury. The apex or point of greatest focus will be Uranus Retrograde, which Mercury will square (exact) at 7:57 am, July 25th 2014, GMT + 8:00.

Uranus Retrograde asks you to transform your internal awareness (shift) and embody that change authentically. Pluto Retrograde facilitates a seeming crisis, or eruption within the psyche, particularly to do attitudes towards the status quo, the societal super-structure, the super-ego construct and measures of worldly success and achievement. Mercury in Cancer will question and ponder as to how all of these different impulses to change, transformation and emergence will link to the self’s relation with the collective, the family, the tribe?

For most of the 25th, the Moon will be bridging Mercury and Venus, sitting in between them, and blending their energies – all of which feed into the Grand Trine and the Uranus Pluto Square.

This is a major day as the Sun conjuncts Jupiter at 4:23 am.

Blessings to all,
